San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
This three hour tour is a great way to explore three of Gotham's most historic locations. This tour meets at the East Broadway F train station, and takes you through legendary Lower East Side streets like Essex, Grand, Hester, Orchard, and Delancey. Along the way, we'll get a feel for what life was like for the millions of immigrants who arrived here throughout the 19th and early part of the 20th Century. We'll also see how this neighborhood has transformed into one of the hippest and trendiest areas in the city.
From there, we'll discover NoLita(North of Little Italy), a charming area that is home to Lombardi's, NYC's first pizza place. This neighborhood features great Italian food, cool bars, former gangster haunts, as well as landmarks like Old St.Patrick's Cathedral (where the Baptism scene in the Godfather was filmed!) and the 14th Ward Industrial School.
Nolita is also the birthplace of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. The last part of the tour has us going through the East Village. We'll hit the Bowery, a 400 year old thru-fare that has undergone a radical transformation in the past 30 years. What was once a rough and tumble street known to be the underbelly of NYC, the Bowery now features swanky hotels and upscale boutiques and bars. We'll pass by the exact spot where the famous punk rock club CBGB once stood. We'll also see the Hell's Angels Headquarters, Cooper Union, St. Mark's Place, and much more.
