Movie: More Than Honey
Fifty years ago, Albert Einstein predicted “If bees were to disappear from the globe, mankind would only have four years left to live.”
Oscar-nominated director Markus Imhoof (THE BOAT IS FULL) tackles the vexing issue of why bees, worldwide, are facing extinction. With the tenacity of a man out to solve a world-class mystery, he investigates this global phenomenon, from California to Switzerland, China and Australia. Exquisite macro-photography of the bees (reminiscent of MICROCOSMOS) in flight and in their hives reveals a fascinating, complex world in crisis. Writes Eric Kohn in Indiewire: "Imhoof captures the breeding of queen bees in minute detail, ventures to a laboratory to witness a bee brainscan, and discovers the dangerous prospects of a hive facing the infection of mites. In this latter case, the camera's magnifying power renders the infection in sci-fi terms, as if we've stumbled into a discarded scene from David Cronenberg's THE FLY." This is a strange and strangely moving film that raises questions of species survival in cosmic as well as apiary terms.

We need bees to pollinate broccoli and truffle oil to marinate mushrooms to create this divinely-delicious vegan quiche. Enjoy a medley of vegetables combined with the earthy tones of mushrooms and truffle oil, all relaxing together in a smooth and creamy sauce.
Beans need bees, too. Bees are responsible for pollinating a wide variety of beans from adzuki, kidney, lima, mung, string, green and many more. We’re using a mix of our favorite beans mashed together with some bee-friendly vegetables and fresh sage and Cuban oregano from the garden-- with a hint of smoky goodness-- to create this brunch-time favorite.
Pancakes with Mango-Chipotle Syrup
There’s nothing better than fresh hot-off-the-griddle gluten-free pancakes smothered in a local mango syrup with a kick of smoky hot chipotle peppers. Our pancakes are created from a mixture of oats, bananas, and sorghum flour to make these short stacks gluten-free and delicious. Thanks to the bees again for pollinating all our local mango trees that line the streets of Miami!
Coffee Cake with Toasted Nuts
Bees pollinate more than fruits and vegetables-- they are also responsible for pollinating the coffee plant and many of our favorite nut trees like cashew, almond, brazil, hazelnut, chestnut, coconut, and more. This dessert is our brunch homage to the bees and their amazing wonderful work pollinating the majority of our foods and flowers. Thank you, Bees. We love you!
