Torsdag 14.11. møter vi Dr. Caroline Maniaque-Benton (fra Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture, Paris Malaquais). Hun vil snakke om forholdet mellom Kahns boliger og hans monumentalarkitektur.

From 1942 to 1973 Louis Kahn designed some twenty houses, all located in the northeastern United States, around Philadelphia in particular. Of these twenty residential projects, barely half were actually constructed. An analysis of this corpus will allow us to define his strategies of implantation in the site and his conception of an appropriate space in which to unite a very small community, the family. The individual houses also bring Kahn’s basic architectural principles to light. How important was the domestic problem in Kahn’s overall work?

Foredraget er det tredje i en serie fem av torsdagforedrag i tilknytning til utstillingen "Louis Kahn. The Power of Architecture", som vises i Museet for samtidskunst og Nasjonalmuseet - Arkitektur 18.10.2013-26.1.2014. Foredraget vil bli holdt på engelsk.

Nasjonalmuseets samarbeid med Dr. Maniaque-Benton strekker seg videre, i det hun i egenskap av gjestekurator for utstillingen «Far-out Voices» også holder et foredrag i Nasjonalmuseet – Arkitektur lørdag 16. november, kl. 13.00: Talk about Far-out (forhåndsregistrering ikke påkrevet).
