The Los Angeles Times is opening its doors on Art Walk night for a tour of its Editorial department, featuring the beautiful Art Deco Globe Lobby.
On this free 1.5 hour walking tour, led by 35-year veteran Darrell Kunitomi, you will hear of the history of The Times, and then see the current reporting and editing process from the newspaper to the online side. Also along the way you will see Photo, Calendar and the Test Kitchen.
Great photography by The Times staff fills the building, and you are welcome to bring along your own camera on this tour. (That's staff photog Kirk McCoy demonstrating to Art Walkers how he does his studio work with food and fashion shoots.)
This fascinating tour is for ages 10 and up, we provide free, secure parking for the whole night and the tour is disabled-accessible. Only the first 90 people to RSVP will be allowed on the tour, so don't delay.
FYI, next month for Art Walk night we tour the printing plant.
Coming up: Thursdays @ The Globe returns on September 20th, with a discussion on the presidential election. This is an up close and unplugged discussion with our reporters and editors. Limited seating, you may rsvp below.
