The autobiographical and last play of American playwright Eugene O’Neill, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, will be directed by Nataki Garrett and performed in the Ensemble Theatre 407 (E407) on the campus of the California Institute of the Arts (24700 McBean Parkway, Valencia, CA). O’Neill’s final play parallels the story of his own family. The Tyrone family is unable to live in the present and haunted by the haze of their dark and bitter past. The play starts after breakfast and follows the troubled family’s cycle of love and addiction as it unravels from daytime into nightfall. Their struggle to balance disappointment with love and forgiveness, in the residue of alcohol and drug addition, makes this piece especially relevant for current times. The show will preview on Thursday March 7 at 8:00pm. Other show performances will be Friday, March 8, and Monday through Wednesday, March 11 -13, at 8:00pm. There will also be a matinee at 2pm on Sunday, March 10. This show is over three (3) hours long with one intermission. Admission is by reservation only. No late seating will be permitted.
