Workshop Presenters

Mike Blumenthal
Mike has been involved with offering web services since 1995. Prior to specializing in web design and search consulting in 2001, Mike was a principal in a family owned & operated retail business for over 30 years.

Like all small business owners attempting to market to a fragmented clientele, he was continually frustrated by the barriers & costs imposed by the advertising options available. Shortly after Google Maps was released in 2004 he threw out his 9 Yellow Page books and started focusing on Local Search.

Mike presents nationally at search conferences & contributes columns to Search Engine Land. During the week, you can find him at his blog, Understanding Google Maps and Local Search, where he writes about local search and its impact on the business community.

Mary Bowling
Mary has been involved in all aspects of SEO since 2003 and has always been intrigued by Local Search. With a background as a serial entrepreneur, she always tries to approach Local Search and Internet Marketing in a practical way and from a small business owner's perspective. Mary is an SEO practitioner and consultant and speaks frequently on Local Search at industry conferences - SES, SMX, Searchfest, OMS. She's conducted intensive trainings on Local Search for Search Engine Strategies, Planet Ocean, Search Engine Workshops, the Denver Chamber of Commerce, and for her clients and the clients of other agencies. She blogs at Optimized!

Matt McGee
Matt runs his own Tri-Cities, WA-based marketing consultancy and has been offering SEO and marketing services since the late 1990s. He's consulted for companies as big as Target, but his current client list is exclusively small business owners -- and that's how he prefers it. Matt is the Executive News Editor at Search Engine Land, and has been speaking at national and regional marketing conferences since 2006.

David Mihm
David is the President & CEO of GetListed.org, in addition to running his own Portland-based search engine consulting business. He's a Search Engine Land columnist and a frequent speaker at the SMX, SES, and Kelsey Group conference series.

Ed Reese

He's consulted for high-tech firms, universities, and national non-profits, but has worked primarily with local businesses since his move to Spokane in mid-2008. Ed is a frequent speaker at marketing events in Spokane and recently presented for the Spokane Club and the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau. He is a Search Engine Journal contributor and blogs at Sixth Man Marketing.

Cecelia Cox

Before joining the marketing team, she worked as a Product Specialist for local features, including Google Places accounts and local reviews. She's worked directly with hundreds of users to get their businesses up and running on Google. Her passion for the local space and for helping small businesses get online stems from the the time she's spent working for her mother's tiny cafe in Dallas.

Aaron Weiche
Aaron is Vice President of Spyder Trap Online Marketing, a Minneapolis digital agency. He's worked with over 250 businesses over the last 11 years in all aspects of web design, development, content management, e-commerce, SEO, email marketing, mobile and more.
