Local Government Training Workshop - Navigating the New SEQR Forms

Otsego County Planning Department and Southern Tier East Regional Planning Development Board present:
“Navigating the State Environmental Quality Review Act’s revised Environmental Assessment Form”
on Tuesday December 3rd , from 6-9PM at the State University of Oneonta’s Morris Conference Center, HIRC Lecture Hall #1.
Refreshments are allowed but will not be served at this training event. There is a Starbucks on campus located in Hunt Union that is open to the public.
NYS Training credits will be offered to local government officials and each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
This workshop will introduce participants to the revised SEQR (State Environmental Quality Review Act) Environmental Assessment Forms, as well as resources available to complete them. The workshop emphasis will be on the Short Environmental Assessment Form (SEAF) with some references to the Full Environmental Assessment Form (FEAF) and will include:
Overview of the planning framework for environmental assessment reviews
Introduction to the NYSDEC “workbook” websites created to assist users
Orientation to existing GIS (Geographic Information System) data resources and the upcoming EAF Mapper available
An example to show how to complete all parts of the new SEAF
The workshops will be conducted by Nan Stolzenburg and Don Meltz, who are the authors of the new NYSDEC EAF “workbooks.” Nan and Don are both Certified Planners (American Institute of Certified Planners) and are well known by many of you for their community planning work in small communities and rural areas. Nan is also a Certified Environmental Planner, has a Master’s degree in Regional Planning from the University of Albany and a Master’s in Wildlife Biology. Don is a planner and GIS specialist with a M.S. degree in Regional Planning from the University of Albany.
