Join top University of Arizona orthopedic innovator and researcher, John A. Szivek, Ph.D., as he shares the latest cutting-edge developments in the future of joint resurfacing. Dr. Szivek will lead participants through the current treatments for arthritis and defect repair while detailing exciting research and advances in cartilage regeneration and engineering strategies. He will also discuss the key elements of joint structure and osteoarthritis.

About Dr. Szivek:
Dr. Szivek's research interests revolve around orthopedics, including bone remodeling and bone and cartilage tissue engineering. His projects include measurement of the mechanical loads on long bones and joints in the body and studies of how implants interact with native tissues like bone and cartilage. Dr. Szivek has been with the University of Arizona as Director of Orthopedics Research since 1990.
Parking is available in the University of Arizona Medical Center – University Campus visitor/patient parking garage. The fee is $1.50 per hour, cash only. Free parking is available after 5:00 p.m., in the UA Zone 1 permit and metered parking lot 2030, just south of the parking garage at East Mabel Street and Martin Avenue.

The Living Healthy With Arthritis program is a community based intervention program that uses education to promote optimal health. The University of Arizona Arthritis Center faculty and staff, as well as experts from the community present topics monthly.
