Liverpool Sound City 2012
Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 1:00 PM - Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 4:00 PM (BST)
Liverpool, United Kingdom
The name first appeared in Austin, in 2007 as a showcase event at SXSW of the best of the UK’s Northwest acts. Then, in 2008 during the Capital of Culture year, came the first Sound City proper, in our home town of Liverpool.
Now, in 2012, we’re a hugely respected 3 day international music, media and technology conference and live arts and music festival. The festival is focused on the zeitgeist and looking forward, intent on bringing the best new music, film, art and more from all over the world to Liverpool. While the primary convention focus is on bringing together a vast array of creative and digital industries business professionals, artists, music, film and art fans to enjoy today’s best new music and chart the future course of the music, digital and creative industries.
We take the best in 21st century pop/tech culture and presents it alongside the newest, most forward thinking ways of doing business, creating a forum for people to talk, think, learn and grow.
Many claim it, but we really are an international affair. Following on from our successful festivals in Dubai and Tromso, Norway we’re putting on even more in 2012. In addition we annually feature events with speakers and delegates from 23 Countries. Those represented include: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the USA.
Art and commerce, creativity and commerciality, performance and production, music and money. All from one of the most hedonistic cities on earth.
We’re Sound City, this is what we do.
And this is what they say about us...
Alex Yau, Drowned in Sound
Packed with as much variety as Ringo Starr's postbox, albeit with quality, LSC reinforced Liverpool as a musical hotspot.
Rob Webb, NME
Liverpool has always been a city of sound, so it's great to see an event that opens up this buzzing music community to an outside audience. Great bands, great venues and great vibes - or, as they say in these parts, 'boss'!
Sybil Bell, Clash
Sound City was great again this year - excellent networking as always and some good new bands on the circuit.
Elena Goodison, Independent
Liverpool Sound City has established itself at the forefront of the UK indie music festival circuit… LSC is an adventurous voyage of discovery and offers the unique opportunity to experience the delights of a wonderful city.
Conor McDonnal, The Fly
Sound City just gets better and better. I’ve been to every one and after I wonder how it can be better next year; low and behold they manage to do it! This year was the best yet, such a good line up and locations! Can't wait till next year!
