Thrivals Founder and University of Louisville Professor Nat Irvin talks with Louisville native Devin Emke, sound engineer of NBC's hit comedy series Saturday Night Live. No stage, no set -- just live (and lively) conversation on his Kentucky origins, his creative inspiration, and his path from Louisville musician to mixing, recording and designing sound for television, film, and music. Live, from Louisville, it's Devin Emke!
This is the first offering in a new pilot series of programming, "Kentucky to the World," offered in partnership by IF University and Louisville community leader and international quilt expert Shelly Zegart. "Kentucky to the World" (KTW) presenters will include a mix of high-profile
individuals not often seen or heard in Kentucky, along with others who might be unheralded here, but are very well known elsewhere in their fields. With all of them, Kentucky is part of their story and they are part of Kentucky's story.
FACILITATORS: Devin Emke has over 20 years audio engineering experience including recording, mixing, and editing of music and post-production audio for video. He received the 2008 Award for Technical Excellence and Creativity (TEC) for his work on SNL. He is a graduate of St. Francis High School and New York University. He is married and lives in Brooklyn.
Nat Irvin is the Strickler Executive in Residence and professor of management at the University of Louisville. He teaches classes on change management, leadership, and future studies. He is the founder of "Thrivals," which, among other things, presents a daylong program in conjunction with the IdeaFestival each year. He also is a graduate of the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.
