Art of Cool is EXTREMELY pleased to present Irabagon's Trio featuring Jon Irabagon (tenor saxophone), Alex Smith (organ) and Shawn Baltazor (drums). Jon Irabagon, winner of the 2008 Thelonious Monk International Saxophone Competition, has performed extensively as both a sideman and as a leader in an ever-expanding range of projects, from the most straight ahead to the most searching. Jon has studied under such divergent artists as Dave Liebman, Wynton Marsalis, Dick Oatts, Jason Moran, Billy Drewes, Greg Fishman, Roscoe Mitchell, Greg Osby, Jon Gordon, Ned Rothenberg, Vijay Iyer, Evan Parker, and Victor Goines, and has performed and/or recorded with musical luminaries such as Billy Joel, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Conor Oberst and Bright Eyes, Joey DeFrancesco, Tom Harrell, Kenny Barron, Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Deborah Gibson, Aoife O’Donovan, Barry Altschul, Renee Fleming, Michael Buble, Kenny Washington, Mark Helias, Lou Reed, John Taylor, Rufus Reid, Jenny Lewis, Warren Wolf, Mary Halvorson, Adam Nussbaum, Ron Sexsmith, Nicholas Payton, James Carter, John Hebert, Dave Douglas, Victor Lewis, EJ Strickland, Frank Kimbrough, Gerald Clayton and Evan Parker.

We are a jazz presenting 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Durham, NC. We are dedicated to presenting and promoting live jazz influenced music in unique venues throughout the Triangle. We are the rhythm of the Bull City that connects music and art to people while providing a GREAT NIGHT OUT.
