This inaugural Baroque event of the Chelsea Music Festival features music from the great masters Arcangelo Corelli and Matthew Locke alongside a musical and visual modern-day reflection on the period. Each half of the program explores both original works of the 17th and 18th centuries as well as 20th and 21st century perspectives including the world premiere of In Situ by 2013 Composer-in-Residence Edmund Finnis. This evening’s program is conceptualized in collaboration with the stunning Light Art exhibit by Nacho Rodriguez Bach at the Dillon Gallery, which is inspired by 18th century European tile work.
Festival Talks precedes this concert with Columbia University Professor Giuseppe Gerbino speaking about Arcangelo Corelli and his British superstardom. Festival Talks @ 6:30pm; admission free.
