All races start and finish on the sand immediately south of the pier. The standup paddle and traditional or prone paddleboard races feature a 5.5 mile long course and 2 mile "fun paddle," both of which take paddlers around the historic Santa Monica Pier and hug the coast. The Tommy Bahama SUP and Paddleboard Knockout Race is an onshore 500 meter race, with winners going on to the next round.
The Tommy Bahama Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival at the Santa Monica Pier on June 6th, 2015 is an annual all-day, family friendly celebration of decades of surf, paddleboard and lifeguard history. Tommy Bahama Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival benefits Heal the Bay, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium and its public marine education facility. Heal the Bay will receive a portion of net proceeds from the event. Partake in the kids beach, ocean, waterway stewardship and trivia contests.
