The Liberian American Veterans Association (LAVA) will be hosting her first annual military ball in Charlotte NC, July 4 weekend. Friday, July 5, 2013 will be the welcome party; Saturday, July 6, 2013 soccer games/family day (10am - 3pm), Saturday, July 6, 2013, formal ball starts at 6pm to 4am (red carpet and receiving line 6pm - 6:55pm). Sunday, free BBQ starting at 12 noon at the park.
This will be the first time for Liberians in the different branches of the military to come together with friends, and family to celebrate as one family. Please come out and support the Liberian Military Community.
LAVA is a charity/not for profit org gears toward supporting the future of Liberia. LAVA is comprised of past and current U.S. servicemen and women of Liberian descent from all branches of the US military. Proceeds from this inaugural weekend will be used to undertake charity projects in Liberia. Projected date for LAVA's 2013 charity outreach is set for December 2013. LAVA’s members will be going to Liberia in December to establish scholarships for deserving students. The scholarships will honor three of our fallen comrades who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Liberian American Veterans Association (LAVA)
The Liberian American Veterans Association (LAVA) is a non-profit and non-political organization comprising of past and current United States Service members of Liberian descents. LAVA was established in May 2007 to be a networking medium for its members, provide mentorship to junior servicemembers, and offer guidance to young Liberians in the United States interested in pursuing careers in the U.S. Military. LAVA is also involved with advocating for issues that affect our greater communities including undertaking initiatives to better the lives of underprivileged Liberians.
Provided computers for a computer lab that benefited underprivileged Liberian youth in Liberia, West Africa. -Organized and participated in career day programs at Cathedral and William V.S. Tubman High Schools, in Liberia, West Africa. - Co-sponsored several Christmas parties for kids in Liberia donating thousands of dollars’ worth of toys and clothes to multiple orphanages.- Contributed monetary resources to several Liberian organizations in the United States. - Provided assistance to wounded U.S. Service members of Liberian descent and assisted the families of U.S. Service members who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. -During the Ebola crisis, LAVA contributed over $2000.00 to assist Ebola victims of which many ophanges benefited.
