- RECOMMENDED FOR MANAGERS -

This workshop addresses best business process for conducting lawful employment interviews. It identifies federal and state laws that regulate the employment interview; “do’s and dont's” for interviewing questions; and proper documentation/recordkeeping required by the appropriate enforcement agencies. This workshop is a must for human resource personnel, management staff and all other employees involved in the employment selection process. Training material is based on relevant federal and state law and provides specific examples for interviewing teams.

At the end of this training, a PHR, SPHR or GPHR will be able to:

· Prepare for any interview
· Set the tone for the interview
· Gather information from each applicant
· Differentiate between legal and illegal questions
· Offer reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities
· Close an interview

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS: Trainings with the Illinois Department of Human Rights - Institute for Training and Development are accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Illinois Human Rights Act.

The Institute for Training and Development requires seven (7) business days to obtain any reasonable accommodation. If for some reason you cannot attend your scheduled training, you must request the cancellation of the reasonable accommodation at least 72 hours prior to the date of training. All requests must be in writing and should include reason for cancellation. Failure to comply may result in suspension of future training privileges.

TRAINING MATERIALS: All training materials will be sent via email and must be printed out and brought to class. Materials will no longer be distributed on site. An email containing a link to training materials will be sent out 1 week prior to the training schedule. Please add idhr.training@illinois.gov to your address book to avoid emails going to your spam folder.

CANCELLATIONS: If for some reason you cannot attend your scheduled training, you must request the cancellation at least three (3) business days prior to the date of training. Failure to comply may result in suspension of future training privileges.
