In honor of Black History Month, The Network for a Healthy California’s African American Campaign and Allen Temple is hosting the first annual Legacy of Soul Food Celebration at Allen Temple Baptist Church in Oakland to showcase how soul food can be good for the body AND soul. Featured at the event was the recently released documentary, Soul Food Junkies, which “explores the history and social significance of soul food and its effect on African American health, good and bad.”
Event attendees will be able to taste nutritious and delicious recipes from the Network for a Healthy California’s cookbook, “Soulful Recipes,” which was designed for the African American Campaign and includes healthy twists on traditional soul food dishes. All attendees will leave with a free copy of the cookbook. This event is free! Register today!
