Learn to Square Dance
Weekly Event - Every Sunday: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Mark your calendars for Sunday 8 Sep to visit our first class.
We start our new class Sunday 8 Sep 2013. It's progressive so each week we add to what we have learned the week before. The first three weeks we go over the basics. Your welcome to come to one of these first three classes for free to see if you'll like it, we have to charge $6 per class after that to cover the rental and caller's fee. After Sept 22 we have to close the enrollment so we can start progressing through the various calls. Square Dancing is a bit physical so you will have to touch hands with a variety of people. Square Dancing is a team dance and each dance (Tip) all eight greet each other to begin the dance and thank each other after the dance (Tip). There are about six to seven Tip's a night so it won't take too long to meet all your classmates. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that don't stick to the floor there is a lot of shuffling and we don't want you to stumble. We can't guarantee a partner as we don't know who will show up. Bring a partner if you can. We have some experience dancers to help out and we'll work around whoever shows up.
We are a non-profit Square Dance Club helping to keep our State and National heritage dance alive. It is a very social activity where lifetime friends are made, crossing age, ethnic and racial lines. Some of us travel (we have an Alaska trip planned next summer), camp, hike, go out to dinner, shows, parties, we network, and some of us even marry fellow dancers, we just got back from Tahoe where our caller got married to a former student. Square Dancing is taught in English everywhere in the world, so in your travels you could join a Square Dance from Europe to Asia to South America to Australia and make instant friends.
