Event Details

Will our speakers (Roderick Diaz, Cory Zelmer and Lisa Trifiletti) on Rail to LA World Airport reveal secrets and the challenges of developing and operating a train to an airport, in combination with the Metro rail systems? This is a program that you don't want to pass up, as you will learn how the new and existing airport and rail systems are evolving. What are the challenges and the solutions? How are things working? Sign up and enjoy this program.

Note: Special Day--Wednesday; You must prepay for food by Noon Wednesday, February 27, so the food order can be submitted.

Have you ever wanted to know more about the rail systems to LAX and how they are being revamped to connect together? Well, here is your chance to learn, listen and get some answers first hand from the folks who call the shots and are responsible for the service you get. Our speakers may not answer every question, but you'll learn a lot about the latest developments. Find out first hand, by joining us.

First @ 6:55 p.m. we will have introductions and go over some of the latest transit developments.

At 7:05 p.m, we will start the program, so make a goal to be there at the start at 6:45 p.m.

The speakers will present and answer questions until at least 8:25 p.m. and then we will cover the business of other transit activities in Southern CA.

This is your Open Invitation from The Transit Coalition to join us for our Wednesday, February 27, 2012 meeting at Metro Gateway Headquarters, (Union Station Room on the 3rd Floor) in downtown LA from 6:45 p.m. to 8:55 p.m. At this gathering, we will discuss current transportation developments and present a recap of the other transit-related projects underway throughout Southern California.

There will be other reports at the meeting such as CAHSR, Amtrak, Metrolink and Metro and the America Fast Forward Plan, as well as a review of actions to transit and state and urban rail service. Also, we will talk about other projects such as Expo, the Airport Extension, the Downtown Regional Connector, the Wilshire Busway, the JEM Line (Westside / SF Valley Rail Tunnel), the GRID SuperDock, the Foothill Gold Line and the Westside Extension--Purple Line.

To attend, see the Gateway map, if you need directions. We generally gather at the 3rd Floor Guard Station, then retire to our meeting room. If you have trouble locating the meeting, call 818-419-1671.

Pass the word. If you or anyone is interested, get them there Wednesday, Feb. 27. Also, note: RSVP.

If we know you are coming, we will look for you, so you don't stay lost from us. Note: If you want to get the an e-mail meeting reminder directly, write and you can get on the list for future events.

To make reservations, you must click on the "Click and Register Button". Please pass this e-mail along to anyone who might be interested in joining us. Call if you have any questions. Thanks, Bart Reed

Mission Statement

The Transit Coalition is a broad based group of concerned citizens mobilized to passionately demonstrate community support for the economic development and continuing operation of improved transportation.

Objectives

The Transit Coalition works to develop a safe, integrated, cost effective and environmentally sound public transportation system for the greater Los Angeles region. The Transit Coalition realizes that government must not only look at the tangible cost of running and building a public transportation network, but also the intangible benefits that such a system provides, such as better health, less pollution, reasonable travel time, ease of use, coordinated schedules with a minimum amount of transferring between routes. Our efforts at education and outreach highlight congestion relief opportunities and mobility alternatives that will allow the area to move forward to reach full potential as a dynamic, culturally advanced and livable world-class region.
