Le Roc Social Dance Fundraiser
Please join the Young Adults of The Basilica of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral, Redeemer and Emmanuel for our social dance fundraiser. Enjoy an evening of your favorite music while learning Le Roc, a partner-dance made super-easy and fun. Got two left feet? We'll fix that. Feel free to invite friends though there is no need to bring a partner - we will keep you meeting and learning with others. Join us for this fun party, good cause and rare opportunity to learn a lifelong skill that was made popular in the U.K. club scene.
Venue: 268 Mulberry St. between Houston St. and Prince St. (St. Pat's Youth Center)
Date: Friday, November 9th, 2012
Tickets: $10 online (tax-deductible) or cash at the door
The basic program is a beginner's instruction session from 7:45-8:30pm followed by freestyle dancing with a more advanced lesson from 9:00-9:30pm followed by more freestyle dancing. Come early for pizza.
Le Roc is a combination of Jive and Rock-n-roll. It was developed in London, U.K., aimed at those who want to have fun with dancing but don't necessarily want to spend much time and effort to learn dance technique. The dance reached mainstream popularity in the U.K., New Zealand and Australia. In the U.S., it is relatively new.
Funds raised will go toward much-needed restoration work of the Basilica's historic landmark properties.
