Our next Hack Jersey event will be a hack day focused on “Law, Money and Politics.” Through two parallel tracks, we’ll spend the day crunching data on the legislative process in New Jersey and examine how campaign finance money influences governance.
This one-day event at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark will split our participants into two distinct paths, one for coders and news hackers and the other for journalists and others who want to go on a Data Expedition.
Because our teams will be geared toward meeting a goal or producing a finished website by the end of the day, it will be critical for us to ensure that folks who sign up will attend the event.
For those in the news app track, we will also likely have a meetup a week or so ahead of the hack day for us to understand the data sources, examine use cases and prioritize features we want to build.
After you sign up, we'll get in touch with you and may ask a few extra questions so we can be sure to put you in the right team.
Our hack day is sponsored by the NJ News Commons, the Sunlight Foundation, NJIT, Broadstreet Ads and the Hoboken Makerbar.
