LAHAM - MSP Workshop
Friday, October 4, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
We are excited to announce a LAHAM Fall Session focusing on MSPQ. This will be a half day event at 8:30am on Friday, October 4th in New Orleans.
The location will be the Ochsner Leadership Institute (2nd Floor Training Center) in Benson Tower on 1450 Poydras Street in New Orleans, LA.
Consider this a workshop for the MSPQ! There is no cost. No question will go unanswered and no portion of the MSPQ will be avoided. Please bring with you your sense of humor, as that will be utilized. Seminars may have been offered in the past that touched upon Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) issues. Typically, they have been part of larger seminars, covering many different topics, becoming bland and all too brief.
Kevin Willis, formerly the National Government Services traveling MSP lecturer and Auditor, now the Medicare Billing Solutions Director for Claim Services, Inc., shall present a comprehensive Medicare Secondary Payer seminar that will dive into every aspect of MSP including a review of an auditor’s process.
Kevin will put in plain words the Medicare Regulations as they apply to various aspects of Medicare Secondary Payer. Kevin will illustrate an appropriate approach to common and not so common Medicare registration scenarios. He will identify common reimbursement pitfalls and how to avoid them. He will talk about those many misconceptions regarding commercial and accident payers. He will also explore Third Party Liability, impediments to reimbursement, the provider’s duty to investigate, the need to properly document findings and the consequences that face a provider that does not.
We will also try to briefly discuss a few other topics as time permits, such as Staffing Analysis, The Future of Point of Service Collection, Changes to Medicaid, and give you an update on Joint Commission.
We hope to see you there!!
