Announcing Andrea Schell as our Emcee!

Past projects have included the web talk show What Would Men Say? and the one woman show From Seven Layers to a Bikini Top in Less Than Five Hours. Current projects include producing the documentary Le Chiffon, a comedic look at periods, tampons and everything involved with that lovely time of the month as well as producing a video for The Empowher Institute, a nonprofit that provides education support for inner city girls in Los Angeles. Andrea has also worked at The Simpsons, New Line Cinema, Oprah Magazine and other super awesome entertainment companies. You can learn more about Andrea at www.andreaschell.com or check out www.shessogreat.com, a site where women celebrate women from history, yes. history!
Isabella Grosso is an accomplished dancer with a repertoire in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and even the mystic moves of Salsa, Tango and the Waltz. She is also a writer with her first memoir coming out in 2013 describing the story of a young woman and her struggle to overcome sexual abuse. She is a dedicated advocate for women's rights and women empowerment, making it an essential part of her life.
Tera "Nova Jade" Greene is an award-winning DJ and film producer, as well as a published writer and poet. She has helped to organize 3-day women's workshop festivals and recently spoke on a panel about "Feminism" in today's society at UCLA. Though growing up she lacked women role models, even a mother's presence in the home, she feels it is important to empower women to stand firmly in their identities and create their own HerStory.
theKI is a 10-piece ensemble that fuses pop, jazz and electronic music with modern and ancient wisdom. Featuring conservatory-trained members who have performed with world-class artists, theKI combines beautiful instrumental arrangements with digital grooves to create movement, dance, and transformative moments of inner reflection. Roxie Sakura, lead singer and member of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter USNC for UN Women, through her songwriting is dedicated to shining light on some of the darkest injustices and inner struggles still facing women today. By making darkness conscious, as Carl Jung wrote, theKI exists to expand this awareness by first inspiring and empowering the individual.
When & Where
USNC LA for UN Women
UN Women’s vision is a world in which societies are free of gender-based discrimination, where women and men have equal opportunities, where women and girls are empowered to lead the change that they want to see, and where women’s rights are upheld in all efforts to further development, human rights, peace and security.
The Greater Los Angeles Chapter of the United States National Commitee for UN Women specifically works to connect the lives of local women and their endeavors to live the change they want to see in the world with the broader goals of UN Women. From Local to Global. USNC LA is dedicated to building an inclusive community of like minded people, who endeavor to live the change they would like to see in the world. We focus on innovative engagement to spread the cause of UN Women and its message of equity and gender equality.
