La Peña celebrates its 39th Anniversary this June! What better way to celebrate than to showcase our community of students who are engaging in arts, music, dance, and cultural education.
Join us in our 39th Year Class Recitals!
La Peña’s low cost classes give hundreds of youth and adult students access to training by highly regarded art professionals teaching a wide array of art forms. This year’s recitals include:
Latin Jazz Orchestra
Instructor: Josh Jones
In this large ensemble with horns, vocalists, and percussionists, students learn and perform great Salsa and Latin Jazz arrangements.
West African Dance for Youth and Beginning Adult
Instructor: Kamesha Fofana
In this class, students get a great workout while learning traditional dances from Guinea, Mali and Senegal, West Africa. This class is designed to improve flexibility, strength and rhythm as well as knowledge of Africa and it’s rich culture. All levels are welcome. Classes accompanied by live drumming.

La Peña is a community cultural center with a national reputation and a global vision that promotes peace, social justice and cultural understanding through the arts, education and social action.
As a welcoming gathering place, La Peña provides opportunities for artists to share diverse cultural traditions, to create and perform their work, and to support and interface with diverse social movements.
Annually, La Peña presents over 200 events with emerging and established artists; organizes an arts education program; produces new works by local artists, presents internationally and nationally renowned artists, and houses a Latin American cafe which complements the organization's mission.
