Kirtan in the Cave with Jai Uttal
Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 9:00 PM (PDT)
During his early visits to India, Jai Uttal met his Guru, Neem Karoli Baba, and spent time with many great beings of both the Hindu and Buddhist traditions. He became deeply absorbed in the practice of kirtan, the ancient yoga of chanting, or singing to God. This form of prayer became the core of his musical and spiritual life.
The Cave will create a very special space and feeling for this beautiful practice of devotion to the whole of life. Embark on a vocal journey through the sacred sounds of ancient India with call-and-response group chanting and storytelling, Jai Uttal creates a space of invocation, prayer, and heartfelt expression.
Jai adds, "World music is music from everywhere. Music that creates bridges. Music that unites hearts and cultures. Music that brings peace." www.jaiuttal.com
