Kimbap to K-Pop: 19th Annual Chicago Korean Festival 2014 (Volunteers) (Sunday)
Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM (CDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The Chicago Korean American Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help to kick off its 19th Annual Chicago Korean Festival, which is aptly themed this year, from Kimbap to K-Pop. Becoming a part of the K-Fest team is entirely voluntary, though volunteers are expected to be committed to the tasks assigned to them both prior to and the day of the festival.
There are a large number of perks that come with being a volunteer for the festival, among which are free food, scholarship opportunities, and a chance to fulfill any service requirement as may be required by one's school.
All volunteers that commit to and complete two or more shifts will be elligible for a chance to win a scholarship from a $3000 dollar pot, courtesy of the Chicago Korean American Chamber of Commerce, for those that have put their best foot forward during the festival. All volunteers, in any case, are invited to the volunteer celebration that will follow the festival (at a date to be determined).
Is there an age limit on who can volunteer?
No, in fact volunteers of all ages are welcome. Do note, however, that if a volunteer is under the age of eighteen, a parent or legal guardian's contact information is to be provided upon application to volunteer. Volunteers high school age and older are preferred for the physicality that may accompany some of the tasks at hand.
Do I have to speak Korean to be a volunteer or attend the festival?
No, volunteers do not have to speak Korean to participate or attend the festival, although there will be some situations where having a good handle on the Korean language would come in handy in dealing with the visitors of the festival.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
A form of your printed ticket, in either digital or printed form, would be acceptable. Having the ticket ready when checking into each volunteering station would help to make all operations run smoothly.
