Saturday, September 28 from 9:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Boys and girls, ages eight and up (and younger children attending with adult friends*) are invited to make this cozy, cute patchwork scarf! Learn from the fabulous Amie Plumley, co-author of the Sewing School book series for children. The Patchwork Scarf was recently debuted in Sewing School 2: Lessons in Machine Sewing, which hit the shelves in July.
Students will excercise their designing skills as they choose fabrics and plan patchwork layouts. Then Amie will introduce basic machine-sewing and patchworking techniques and teach students how to make buttonholes.
Bring your own machine, or sign up early to reserve one of four shop machines. Parents may drop off their kids or stick around and enjoy the fun!
Students will need to purchase/provide thread, basic sewing supplies (pins, scissors, etc), 1/4 yard of flannel or cotton for scarf backing, and five to ten fat quarters for patchwork front. Students might also want to bring scraps for patchworking. All materials are available for purchase at Sew Memphis at a 10% class discount.
*Adult child pairs who are teaming up to make one scarf need only to sign up for one spot.
