For this year's Whole Foods Baton Rouge Kid’s Day of Service project, we're planting the Community Garden on North Street in Downtown for The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition, a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive after-school mentorship on healthy living and college readiness to motivated high school students in greater Baton Rouge.
Sign up here to volunteer for a fun-filled work morning from 10am-12pm on Saturday, September 14, 2013. This will be a family-friendly, 2-hour project with tasks for everyone ages 6 and up.
After the project, we'll have a salad lunch available for all our volunteers to model the fun of "eating a rainbow" in honor of the Whole Kids Foundation. Please join us for a fun-filled day of service and inspiration as we celebrate healthy communities and healthy eating together. Together you can help our neighborhoods grow, share and prepare healthy, local food!
Volunteer Job Description (Ages 6+)
Mixing and spreading soil, breaking up compost, weeding the beds, planting seeds and, learning techniques on how to practice environmentally responsible food production methods in our very own community!
