MinecraftDojo.org is designed to bring student interest in the popular sandbox construction game together with professional design and educational leaders to provide an opportunity to accomplish learning objectives catered to participants.
As parents having a somewhat universal experience around this game with our kids, the opportunity to explicitly see it used for educational outcomes is becoming increasingly important. As a result, we will be using a mod build specifically for educational use (MinecraftEDU), and will provide a strictly managed server experience for students to engage within a collaborative learning process.
Capitalizing on our initial partnership with Brookhaven National Lab Portal to Discovery in deploying our Minecraft Dojo to 25 students on site and virtually, we will continue to build exciting worlds of science with interactive experimentation to replicate functions found in tools like the RHIC (Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider).
Additional world building tasks will be assigned weekly to registered students on an individual basis, both as team and individual assignments. Post event summaries and analytical feedback will be provided to students and parents so that progress may be monitored.
In this unique and cutting edge program, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership in advancing the use of Minecraft as an educational tool. Space will remain limited, and behavior will be moderated strictly. Poor language, griefing of fellow student work, bullying and other destructive behavior will not be tolerated (ZERO Tolerance).
Register today and come experience one of the most exciting educational tools of the past 20 years come to life in the comfort of your own home.
