Most photographers put their camera away after sunset but today’s digital camera technology makes it easier than ever for photographers to take photographs of the night sky. And the night sky in Joshua Tree is beautiful. With long exposures, the camera will gather light from thousands of stars not visible to the naked eye. When we add light painting techniques of interesting foregrounds, you have an incredible and unique photograph to be proud of. This workshop will include classroom instruction about the night sky, necessary camera equipment, camera settings, focusing at night, light painting, field techniques, and an overview of post-processing. After everyone is comfortable with the concepts of night photography the class will go into the park and practice new skills during a unique private evening at Keys Ranch.
After midnight, the class will travel to Indian Cover Campground for two hours of star trail photography. This campsite has been reserved for the class, so you can stay in the campsite after the class finishes. Please notify us if you wish to camp (optional) by calling 760-367-5535.
This class is limited to 8 participants, so sign up early!
