Disability Advocates of Kent County

Disability Advocates of Kent County (DAKC) was founded in 1981 by persons with disabilities who sought to help other persons with disabilities gain control over their own lives.  We are unique in that we are who we serve–51% of our board and 51% of our staff are people living with disabilities.  This unique perspective provides us with tremendous knowledge and experience to support our constituents by creating positive change through the services we provide and our advocacy at the local, state and federal levels.  As a result of our collaborative work to strengthen services, eliminate barriers, and enhance systems, people with disabilities do increase their quality of life and the community in which we live is more inclusive and welcoming.  We serve individuals with physical, cognitive, mental and sensory disabilities and their families.
