Description

Join us for a Q & A conversation with Ben York and Susanna Loeb, esteemed education researchers from Stanford University, who've studied the impact of text message literacy intervention with parents; Masharika Maddison, the Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools, who's mobilized families across SFUSD to have a voice in the district's discussions of L-CAP; and a local district representative who's engaged families in hands-on activities to explain the Common Core shifts first-hand.

On some level, everyone in education cares about family engagement. However, what tools, strategies, and initiatives are actually in place to include parents in the critical conversations? In the midst of competing priorities, how can districts support school to home communication to support every child? These questions have become even more important with the introduction of the Common Core and new ways of teaching and learning.

This event will bring together the myriad stakeholders who care about strengthening the school to home connection to discuss how we can reach this goal. Let's get together to support our kids! #RemindEd
