Organizer

GlobeMed at UT Austin

GlobeMed is a university-based nonprofit organization that enables students and grassroots organizations around the world to work together to improve the health of people living in poverty. Founded by students in 2007, the GlobeMed network engages more than 1,500 undergraduates at 50 university-based chapters throughout the nation in improving global health through a focus on solidarity with those in need. Each of these 50 Chapters partners with a grassroots health organization in one of 21 countries throughout Africa, Asia, North America, and South America, including the United States. These enduring, sustainable partnerships are at the heart of GlobeMed’s model of engaging students to make a lasting impact in the health of underserved communities. Fundraising and on-site efforts at each chapter contribute to one or more of six key areas of impact: Maternal Health, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Nutrition, Income Generation, Communicable Disease Prevention, and Capacity Building. Together, the chapter and partner organization work to collaborate on specific projects, organize a global health curriculum on campus, and coordinate summer internships to work with our partners for 4 to 6 weeks each year.
