to honor

Kathryn Prinz

An Oyster Bay resident for over 20 years, Kathryn Prinz, was inspired to move to the area, in part because of the abundance of local history and historic buildings in Oyster Bay.  She was a co-founder of the grass roots movement “Save the Jewel By the Bay”, where she worked with other residents and Town of Oyster Bay officials to review and restructure existing zoning laws to protect the historical residential buildings of the Oyster Bay Hamlet community.  She also co-organized the Oyster Bay Hamlet Tree Preservation committee to work with local residents, environmental organizations, Town of Oyster Bay officials, and local arborists, to implement an updated and more relevant Tree Code.  She is keenly interested in the stewardship of the historic Oyster Bay community and ways to protect and preserve all that makes Oyster Bay a special place now, and for the future.

Kathryn has served on the Town of Oyster Bay Eastern Waterfront Steering Committee and the Oyster Bay Preservation Roundtable.   In 2008, she was honored with a “Woman of Distinction” award, by New York State Assemblyman, Rob Walker.  She is a member of the Oyster Bay/East Norwich Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer at The Life Enrichment Center at Oyster Bay.

Ms. Prinz received her B.A. from Bethany College, Lindsborg, KS, and her M.B.A. from Fordham University, New York, NY.  She is a professional musician, offering private lessons and ensembles for flutists and zither players of all ages, at the Prinz Music Studio inOyster Bay.  In addition, she is a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist and nationally certified Reflexologist, operating FootPrinz Reflexology & Massage Therapy, also in Oyster Bay.

The  "TOP ADVOCATES FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION & EDUCATION" AWARDS RECEPTION takes place on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, 6pm to 8pm, at The Mansion at the Woodlands at Woodbury, One Southwoods Road, Woodbury, NY.
