Organizer

Safe Chemicals Act Now (SCAN)

Founded by Jennifer Stein Simms and Wendy Mindel Rubinstein, SAFE CHEMICALS ACT NOW (SCAN) is a not-for-profit based in Los Angeles and New York City dedicated to protecting children and families from unsafe and untested chemicals in our everyday environment. We do this by educating the community and bringing public awareness to the reality that environmental causes of diseases-- such as autism, learning disabilities, allergies, asthma, obesity and childhood and adult onset cancer-- are preventable.  We support and champion like-minded organizations in the nonprofit, medical and public health arenas that work to safeguard the rights of those who are most vulnerable to exposure.  Coordinating the diverse efforts of environmental groups into a unified voice for change is our goal.  Through our various initiatives we hope to inspire a movement in environmental health that prompts a shift in manufacturing practices and rallies the public behind reform.
