Hello again, Potential Junior Board Members!
We held our first meeting, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 and it was a great success in terms of restructuring membership and projects. Those who met decided that the TRC Junior Board will not be a membership dues based group. The two big changes made during this meeting are: no membership dues and the board will be project based.
No Membership Dues!
Originally we thought that membership dues would be collected to start a bank account which would be used by the TRC Junior Board to put on their networking and fundraising events. However, it was suggested that the TRC Junior Board could work their magic and social connections to get spaces, food, etc. donated for their events. It was agreed by all at the meeting that this would be a better way to start off the TRC Junior Board.
Most young professionals interested in the TRC Junior Board have already brainstormed some great events to raise awareness of TRC in the community and created a stronger network. It was suggested at the April meeting for the TRC Junior Board to choose one or two projects at a time, have members work towards completion of those events, and then choose two more when completed.
Interest renewed? A lot can be accomplished at each meeting. Have an event you think could raise money for the Bronzeville Works building and awareness for TRC? Come to our next meeting, join the board, be a part of a young professionals group that cares about this community.
