June 20th marks the longest day of the year, so why not pass the time by joining other internationally-minded friends for an evening of cuisine, culture and conversation at a special Global Nights event?
As you may know, the Summer Solstice is celebrated in many different ways across the world, but
one of the longest-held traditions is the Scandinavian celebration, Midsummer. To help us herald in the season and learn a bit more about Scandinavian culture, Keith Brooks, from Louisville Speaks Scandinavian will make a brief presentation and answer questions as attendees enjoy free appetizers and a cash bar from Eiderdown Restaurant.
About Louisville Speaks Scandinavian: LSS is an informal club for native Scandinavians and enthusiasts in the Louisville Metro area where members can meet each other, socialize (sometimes in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish) and share their appreciation for all things from the region. Alle er velkommen!
About the Speaker: Keith Brooks is a communications specialist from Louisville, KY. Since 2010, Keith began learning Norwegian after completing an experimental project called 37 Languages, in which he speed-dated various languages in hopes of finding one to study on a long-term basis. After visiting Oslo, Norway the same year, he has continued to be passionate about all things Scandinavian and writes about his observations and language-learning updates on another blog, called Pardon My Norwegian.
Join us as we kick-off summer, learn about Scandinavia, and sample European-inspired cuisine with WAC members and friends!
Date: Wednesday, June 20, 2012
