The Alliance and the Prince William Chamber of Commerce Present:
A Briefing on "The State of Ft. Belvoir" by Garrison Commander, Gregory D. Gadson

The Alliance and the Prince William Chamber are joining forces to present this special Ft. Belvoir Briefing  by Garrison Commander Col. Gregory D. Gadson.  Col. Gadson will report on activities and priorities at the Post as he prepares for the Change of Command later in June. This will be a unique opportunity to gain insights into plans for Ft. Belvoir.

We have been lucky to have this extraordinary leader in our community for the past two years.  Col. Gadson has blazed new ground in his career and at Ft. Belvoir, where he has continued and expanded upon the tradition of working closely with the surrounding community.

The following excerpt from his official biography on the Ft. Belvoir website tells part of Greg Gadson’s story:

A 24-year career Army officer, Col. Gadson’s life is a portrait of courage in the face of great adversity. In May 2007, as commander of the 2nd Battalion, 32 Field Artillery, Col. Gadson’s greatest challenge came in Iraq, where an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack cost him both legs above the knees and normal use of his right arm and hand. Despite this, Gadson remains on active duty in the Army and continues to inspire many with his message of courage, perseverance, determination and teamwork.

In 2007, Tom Coughlin, New York Giants head coach, asked Gadson to meet with the then-struggling team. Gadson talked to the players about service, teamwork, duty, perseverance and adversity and has mentored the Giants since then.

Following his inspirational meetings with the Giants, they went on to an underdog Super Bowl win, and Col. Gadson was presented with a special Super Bowl Ring.  The Col. has more than justified the Army’s faith in him in awarding him the Command at Ft. Belvoir, setting a unique example for our Wounded Warriors everywhere.

You don’t want to miss this briefing and a chance to say good luck to this special individual, who has served his country well and has even become somewhat of a Hollywood sensation after a successful turn in the movie, Battleship.
