She’ll share how to outline and structure a novel, as taught by a seasoned editor at several major publishing houses, so you can get it done.
Proud Bronxite Sofía Quintero has published five novels and twice as many short stories and novellas across different genres. Her latest is her award-winning young adult debut Efrain’s Secret (Knopf, 2010). She recently earned an MFA in writing and TV production at the TV Writers Studio of Long Island University, and contributed to the children’s anthology What You Wish For, the proceeds of which go to build libraries for Darfuri children in Chad.
Sofia is completing her next young adult novel Show and Prove which will also be published by Knopf in 2014.

Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO)
In its 25th year, Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) continues to provide support for artistic development of individuals creating works of literary, media, performing, and visual arts in the Bronx. A minimum of 25 BRIO grants of $3,000 each will be awarded to individual artists residing in the Bronx.
BRIO award winners must complete a one-time public service activity to receive their complete award. The selection for awards is based solely on artistic excellence and is decided on by a panel of professional artists representing the various disciplines. Only artists living in the Bronx are eligible to apply for BRIO.
