Marketing Your Startup - How to Open Minds and Wallets

The workshop and interactive discussion will share the secrets of the customer decision cycle and why skipping a step can be detrimental to your startup or business. We'll also talk archetypes and why your product or service follows a specific storyline in customers' minds that leads to brand affinity. Be prepared to honestly answer questions about your business and learn the power of persuasion.

Speaker: Joe Burke - Founder/CEO of Denizen USA

Joe has 18 years of experience in marketing and advertising on the agency and corporate sides. Joe was the Brand Director for the Disney Stores and Brand Director for teen fashion company, Wet Seal. Joe helped drive record-breaking sales in retail and E-Commerce, as reported by the LA Times and OC Business Journal.

In 2008, Joe was hired by a seven-member agency to aggressively grow them into a full-service digital marketing agency. In two years the agency grew revenues over 200% each year, as reported in Fox Business. Joe established the digital marketing and TV departments, created “Big Board” Customer Experience methodology and generated record-breaking results for their clients. Joe’s work received two Gold and one Silver Award in the 2010 Mark Awards.

As Brand Director of Disney Stores, Joe helped build multichannel retail campaigns. Joe worked closely with cross-functional teams in marketing 
the apparel and toy franchises of “HSM2”, “Hannah Montana”, “Bolt”, 
“Wall-E” and “Enchanted”.

As a hands-on creative, Joe earned awards and built his skills as a marketer with agency stints at, Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, Fox Sports, and his own agency partnership at the age of 21. In addition to a successful career in marketing, Joe also co-authored the screenplay “Howl”, with actor Jeremy Renner, and consistently leverages his relationships in the entertainment industry to build the equity of retail brands.

Joe earned his Bachelors from RIT, New York where he was the Hylan Scholarship recipient, served on Student Directorate, and competed in NCAA Wrestling. Joe is a musician and artist with extensive world travels and an eternal student of culture. He, his wife Ellen, two daughters live in Orange County.
