Take a tour behind the headlines -- the Los Angeles Times is opening its doors on Art Walk night for an Editorial tour through the iconic Times Building, featuring the beautiful Art Deco Globe Lobby.
On this free 1.5 hour walking tour, led by 35-year veteran Darrell Kunitomi, you will hear the history of our city's greatest newspaper, and see the current reporting and editing processes from traditional newsgathering to today's online and digital world of news. Along the way we visit news and features, including the City Desk, Photo Department, and The Times Test Kitchen where recipes are tested for the Saturday section. We might run across one of your favorite reporters or photographers.
Memorable Times staff photos are on display, and you are welcome to bring along your camera. It's a fun and informative tour for all, including Scouts who may fulfil a Communications merit badge requirement.
Intended for ages 8 and up, we are disabled-accessible. The Times provides free, secure parking for the evening. Only the first 90 people to RSVP will be allowed on the tour, so don't delay.
FYI, we switch tours on alternating months, and on the next Art Walk we will tour the printing plant on 8th Street.
