The Craft of Wedding and Event Films

We welcome International Filmmaker, John Goolsby AKA "The Wedding Godfather." John has produced more than 3000 wedding films in 18 countries and 27 states and was named “One of the Top 25 Event Filmmakers in the World.” John will present on "Making a Living in One -Take Enviroment."

Plus Wedding Videographer Carol Dorman will share her experiences as a solo shooter filming weddings with multiple cameras and audio sources.

Plus, join Editor/Teacher/Cinematographer and event director Michael Padilla and see how he utilizes the tools in FCPX to create his Visual-Masterpieces.

NOTE: lacpug generally meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month

Join Gurus
 Philip Hodgetts , Michael Kammes and TBA they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

This is your time. Get up and tell us something about yourself. Ask for a job, offer a job. Whatever you want. Keep it brief.

7:30PM - 8:50PM - Making a Living in a One-Take Environment - John Goolsby
John Goolsby of Godfather Films, known as the Wedding Godfather and one of the most prolific wedding film makers in the world with a resume of more than 3000 films will share his strategies for producing live action films in a One Take Environment. Marketing, Sales, Production, Work-flow and staying motivated while managing more than 300 projects a year are some of the topics to be discussed followed by a no-holds barred Q and A.

Actors, Rock Stars and Professional Athletes have commissioned John to film events around the world, sometimes with multi-million dollar budgets. His corporate client list includes Abbott Labs, Kaiser Permanente, Goya Foods, Costco, Penske Motorsports, Mobil Oil, B. F. Goodrich, U. S. Foodservice and the U. S. Army.
John has produced more than 3000 wedding films in 18 countries and 27 states and was named “One of the Top 25 Event Filmmakers in the World.”
Professional Trade Associations have honored him with leadership positions such as being the California, Nevada and Hawaii State Manager for the Association of Bridal Consultants and the President of Professional Photographers of California.
He is an Honorary Lifetime Member for New York Professional Videographers and Professional Photographers of California.

8:30PM - 9:00PM - Break - Brand new lacpug sponsor HDDISK will be showing their storage solutions. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lacpug Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby and Hot Dogs by Chef Jeff will be upstairs. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

9:00- 9:25PM - Solo Shooting Weddings With Multiple Cameras- Carol Dorman
Carol will be sharing about her experiences as a solo shooter filming weddings with multiple cameras and audio sources. She will also share some hysterical video of photographers behaving badly (that went viral before youtube) and some tips on how to work around them.

About Carol Dorman
Carol Dorman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Film Production acquired in combination from Loyola Marymount University and George Fox University. She trained as a Script Supervisor at AFI and then worked in several low budget movies before taking a job at Walt Disney Imagineering for 5 years - the most creative place on earth! After 9/11 she started her business as a wedding videographer and has expanded to other things like parties, funerals and all kinds of editing. She lives in Burbank but hails from Modesto, California and is the daughter of a bookseller and opera singer. You can also easily find her in the background of Back to the Future 3. Known for crafting beautiful visual imagery, Michael Padilla understands that, even with great footage, a film is only as good as its editor. Join Michael and see how he utilizes the tools in FCPX to create his Visual-Masterpieces.

About Michael Padilla
Michael is co-founder of VisualMasterpiece, an internationally award-winning studio, filming destination and high-end events since 2004. Considered one of the top wedding cinematographers in his field. His work has been featured on industry blog sites FCP.co and fstoppers.com; is sponsored by seven companies, including SmallHD and Cinevate; and only has a few thousand followers on Vimeo.

Michael has been editing on FCPX since its release and is a master on the subject. He presented at the2014 “InFocus” Conference in New Orleans and hosts classes/workshops in their Orange County studio.
