It might seem counterintuitive for a producer to detach themselves from one of the planet's most thriving music scenes, but in the case of Julio Bashmore, that's exactly what he did growing up in bass music hotbed, Bristol. You see, Julio's first love is house music. And operating just on the peripheries of the city's scene has allowed him to quietly cultivate a take on the genre unlike any other.

Julio may have appeared to burst on to the scene in late 2009, but the lead up to the Julio Bashmore EP for Claude VonStroke's highly influential Dirtybird label was essentially a lifetime in the making. Siphoning the tastes of his older brothers through hip-hop cassettes, Julio's interest in electronic music began in earnest after hearing Daft Punk's "Da Funk", which was handily around the time that turntables arrived in the house via his elder sibling. There was something Julio warmed to in the typically French approach Daft Punk and Cassius took to house music composition, and his earliest vinyl purchases reflected this. Aged 14, a battered old PC and a copy of Reason became Julio's very first 'instruments.' He later experimented with synthesizers and guitars, playing in bands for a brief period, but by the time he was old enough to experience club culture firsthand, Julio had made the realisation that DJing was the true vehicle in which to deliver his music.

Perhaps indicative of Bristol's fascination with low-frequencies, Julio began to gravitate towards the bass- indebted sounds of the Dirtybird label. After spending considerable periods of time sharpening his mixing and productions skills, Claude VonStroke's label tellingly signed an EP's worth of Julio's material for the Julio Bashmore EP. This breakthrough also meant a difficult decision: on the cusp of leaving for university Julio decided instead to remain in Bristol and install production and DJing as his primary focus.

What happened next is the reason you're reading this. Labels, media and clubbers seemed to instantly 'get' the skewed angle at which Julio attacked house music in 2010. Night Slugs, Ten Thousand Yen, PTN, Dirtybird, fabric and Soul Motive were among those who housed productions/remixes—and this list of forward-thinking labels seemed fittingly representative of Julio's future-facing output. But what is it about his sonic approach that has created so much fever around the name Julio Bashmore? It's difficult to say exactly. But bounce to blissed-out Garage of "Footsteppin", lose your shit to his Mosca remix, or turn out the lights for "Batak Groove" and you'll realise, simply, that it's just something you feel.

It was spring 2010 when the cologne natives decided to kick their ass into gear and get out of their Studio to bring their beats to the world.
Less than 12 months later Andhim were voted in the top-ten German newcomers of Groove and Raveline Magazine and their records were found in the cases and remix-wishes of many unknown and famous DJ's alike.

Their sound, which they self describe as "Super House" has become its very own genre built from their soul and passion. Andhim's unique sound, party proven and of reduced nature, is organic with an emphasis in the finer detail.

The boys grassroots flow from Hip-Hop, and they work mainly with samples which makes their tracks one of a kind. This individuality has earned them a home with labels such as Monaberry, Terminal M or Sunset Handjob.

When performing live one can really feel the full commitment and passion of the boys. Energetic, creative and always entertaining, they present their very own interpretation of electronic dance music that makes dads cheer and mums scream. The boys see the record player as their instrument, which they use to create new sound worlds, which separates them from the standard reproductive character of a DJ.

Their musical talent and knowledge of technique comes from their musical resume: When other kids were playing at the pool eating french fries on their summer holidays, 16 year old Simon was scratching with several jazz-musicians through Europe. When he was 20 he became known as Simon tempted to electronic music.
Similarly, but on different level, Tobias developed in the late 90's and early 2000's. As part of the turntable-crew 'Noisy-Stylus' he became a multiple ITF- and DMC-Champion and influenced the turntablism scene of the time with Noisy-Stylus in their own Battlebreakrecords and album 'Table Manners'.

The final chapter was at a Bavarian sausage-eating contest, facing each other in the final round covered from head to toe in sausage. They immediately knew what to do and founded the Boy band 'Andhim'. Just a logical progression!

After massive gigs through Europe and Asia, the boys continuously work on their sound and development in an effort to explore new worlds of sound. With strong support from many artists and labels of the scene they are looking forward to the future with optimism and are excited to make the people of the world dance, smile and go crazy!

The story of how footwork — hyper-fast, repetitive, mesmerizing bass-heavy dance music from Chicago — transcended its local roots and became a global phenomenon is as much a story about postmodernity, and the way the internet has changed the way we listen to, consume, and share music, as it is about footwork itself.

Footwork began in the late 1980s as "juke," a sped-up, 150-beat-per-minute twist on ghetto house from Chicago. Street dancers developed new dance techniques, feet shuffling at a breakneck pace, to match the increased tempo — and called it footwork. By the early 2000s these footwork dancers began DJing and producing their own tunes at even faster speeds (160-165 b.p.m. is standard), stripping tracks down to a blur of snares, syncopated kicks, and chopped-up vocal samples.
