Monster Dash 2016
We are excited to announce the 2016 Joseph's Hope Foundation Monster Dash. We've got a few new things to reveal for this year. See below for details of what's new:
- We are adding a vitrtual leg for the 5K and 10K event so all of our out of town running friends can partipate too. The virtual leg participants will receive one of the finisher medals and our event shirts, as well as, be entered to win a special door prize. Virtual race participants will not be eligible for the place finisher prizes, however.
- We are also moving our event to Friday night this year. We received feedback about having an event late into the night Saturday and affecting participant's weekends, so we'll try Friday night to give everyone their entire day Saturday back. This will also enable us to get access to the event location much earlier in the day and more time to get everythign set-up and ready to go for a FUN night.
- Not necessarily new this year, but something I don't think many have been aware of in the past is our early-bird registration doorprize drawings. We will have several different early-bird doorprize registration deadlines. Each will enable those registered by the specific deadlines to be entered for special doorprize drawings (gift cards to Nat's Outdoor Sports, Trax Running, etc.). Entering by the first early-bird deadline enters you into all of the early-bird drawings, so enter early and get your chance at one of the great early-bird prizes.
There are over 147 million orphans world wide. That's the reason for the Monster Dash 5K. Proceeds from the race will be used for orphan care (through providing adoption support/financial assistance and meeting needs of domestic and interntional orphanages).
This is a night run/walk. Who'd want anything else for Halloween, right?
The first component will feature a 10K run or a 5K run/walk around the course at the new NCM Motorsports Park track. Spooky, huh? It should be, it's Halloween! For your safety, on the back poriton of the course, your path will be lit by luminaries in remembrance of those who dared to brave the Monster Dash but were never seen or heard from again! In all seriousnes though, the darker, back portion of the course will indeed be lit by hundreds of glowing luminaries and there will be safety tents spread throughout the course.
The second component is the Monster Crawl, a kid's obstacle race, that will be sponsored and hosted by Vette City CrossFit. Parents, no need to worry about your kids getting their costumes ruined or muddy, this is not a mud obstacle course. There will be fitness related challenges appropriate for children 10 and under.
The third component is a fun trick-or-treat style walk. (what's more fun than getting candy while you walk)? This is intended for families to come out and have a fun, but safe night. There will be trick-or-treat stations set up an manned by volunteer groups.
Remember, this is a Monster Dash, so what will you be? (costumes are welcome and encouraged, but please make sure they are appropriate to wear around children. After all, children are the main beneficiaries of our event).
The Monster Dash is Coming. Are you ready?
ORDER OF EVENTS
The Kid's Monster Crawl Obstacle Race will start at 6:00PM and will be run in heats of varying ages (i.e, 4-5 year olds will run together, 6&7 year olds together, 8,9 & 10 year olds together, etc.). This race shoudl take approximately 30-45 minutes.
The Monster Dash 5K and 10K will start promptly after the completion of the kid's obstacle race. This should start at approximately 7:00PM.
The Trick-or-Treat fun walk will be ongoing throughout the evening. We will begin this piece around 5:30 for families that are participating in this event and the 5K/10K. This will enable those families to complete the trick-or-trail fun walk with their children and be ready for the start of the 5K/10K. This will also continue until after the 5K/10K event is finished to ensure everyone has a chance to participate in this fun trick-or-treat mile walk.
Pre-registration is encouraged by October 10, 2016. This will help us ensure we have the proper quantity and sizes of Monster Dash tech shirts available for race day. Regiatrations after that date will also receive the shirt, but they may have to be fulfilled after the event.. On-line registrations must be complete by Wednesday, October 26, 2016.
Sign-in and on-site registration will begin at 4:00PM on race day at the NCM Motorsports Park. Due to a massive number of late registrations and issues with getting the registration information imported into the timing system, we will be closing on-site registration at precisely 6PM on the evening of the race.
There will be a packet pick-up event on Friday, October 27 beginning at 4:30 PM. This will be held at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center (on the convention center side).

Joseph's Hope Foundation
Joseph's Hope Foundation
...because EVERY Child Deserves a Home.
Joseph's Hope is dedicated to raising money to provide orphan care and support. Whether by providing assistance for adoptions or providing needs to domestic and international orphanages, our main goal is to help the helpless, There are more than 147 million orphans worldwide and, while we can't help every one, we will do everything we can to help as many as we can.
Named after our two Korean adopted children, Joseph Austin and Natalie Hope, the foundation's primary goal is to provide financial assistance to families currently going through the adoption process. This is a long, tedious and very expensive process, but one that results in a home for an orphaned child.
As a secondary goal, there are many very poverished orphanages in the U.S. and abroad, and we try to meet some of he basic needs of these orphanages and the precious children that call it home.
Our mission is simple, ...because EVERY Child Deserves a Home, we will do our part to help as many orphaned children find homes as we can. This is a life long mission, as long as there's one orphaned child in the world, we've got work to do.
Won't you join us?
