Join IAOF and Hauteoc inc. in celebrating the launch of a special musical journey Friday, May 10, from 5 to 7 pm at the award-winning Anaheim Whitehouse, where we toast to celebrity chef Bruno Serato now named Honorary Chair of this year’s Italian American Opera Foundation.

The night marks the official announcement of the second Italian Opera Festival ™, which will take place later this year, October 25, 26, and 27, at the all-new Soka Performing Arts Center. The Festival is produced by the Italian American Opera Foundation, headquartered in Viterbo, Italy,

Renowned conductor, Maestro Stefano Vignati,  who has worked with Artists such as Mariella Devia, Bruno Pratico, Janet Perry, Michele Campanella and Ramin Bahrami, will be celebrated at the Anaheim Whitehouse where CNN hero restaurateur Bruno Serato will be recognized as the foundation’s honorary Chair.  Maestro Vignati, is known for leading three of the most important Festivals in Italy:  Tuscia Operafestival, Festival Barocco and the Italian Opera Festival, will be welcomed by distinguished guests and loyal constituent supporters all of whom will be greeted to an enchanting champagne reception courtesy of Anaheim Whitehouse.

In the near future, Maestro Vignati will debut China Tour with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra in eight cities from Beijing  to Shanghai this  January 2014.  In addition, where he will also record a musical CD with the Camerata Barocca Claudio Monteverdi sponsored by Bulgari, Italy.

Chef Bruno Serato is an Italian American success story like no other. Immigrating to the U.S. with nothing but a dream and $200 in his pocket, Serato, who couldn’t speak a word of English, worked hard to attain the American Dream. And he did, literally going from a dishwasher at an L.A. eatery to establishing one of the nation’s most lauded fine dining establishments: the Anaheim White House Restaurant. Since then, Serato has counted celebrities, U.S. presidents, and food aficionados as loyal customers.

But Serato refused to rest with only his own American Dream fulfilled. Instead, he has been a tireless advocate for those less fortunate than himself. For his work, he has had countless honors, but perhaps none so significant than his Top Ten Hero award from CNN for his work feeding the so-called “motel kids” of Orange County. Cooking fresh pasta for as many as 200 kids a day is not only his passion, but is providing healthy – and delicious – dinner for needy families who would otherwise go hungry.

That’s why, one of Serato’s favorite charities will benefit from this special evening: Catarina’s Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to supplementing the monetary resources of impoverished local families living in motels because they lack the funds to move into permanent housing.

And in addition to a good cause, the Italian American Opera Festival offers a way for American company representatives to connect with their Italian counterparts, as well as enjoy one of the world’s most important art forms: Italian opera.

Italy was the birthplace of opera around the year 1600, and Italian opera has continued to be a major influence of the form to the present day. In fact, Verdi’s La traviata is the world’s most performed opera, according to Operabase.com. In addition, many timeless operas were written by Italian composers, but also in the Italian language by history’s most esteemed non-Italian composers: Handel, Gluck, and Mozart, to name a few.

So come raise a glass and enjoy sumptuous hors d’oeuvres for the launch of an event that promises to be as inspiring as it will be culturally important and charitably beneficial.

RSVP for the toast and pre-cocktail reception to kathrynmarino@iaof.org or claudioferri@iaof.org
