Johanna Maheshvari Mosca, Ph.D. is a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor, Bodyworker and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, who has been teaching yoga for twenty-two years. As founder of Sedona Spirit Yoga & Hiking, Johanna has been leading transformational yoga and hiking retreats for twenty-two years. Her “Sedona Spirit Yoga,” based on gentle Kripalu Yoga of self-acceptance and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, is influenced by extensive study with Rama Jyoti Vernon and the Desikacharsâ Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, in India.

Former President of the Arizona Yoga Association, Dr. Mosca is author of YogaLife: 10 Steps to Freedom and Cultivate Contentment: Using Ancient Wisdom to Thrive in Today’s World. Johanna (Maheshvari) offers yoga teacher training through the YogaLife Academy and operates the Sedona area Contentment Lodge B&B, where she leads Phoenix Rising Yoga, vortex yoga hike tours and retreats. She teaches gentle, in-depth yoga and how to apply the Yoga principles to bring peace and contentment to life. For more info, visit www.yogalife.net and read Johanna’s article: Go West, Middle-Aged Woman, Go West!   Cultivate Contentment: Use Ancient Wisdom Thrive in Today’s World   In a lively, interactive discussion, Johanna Maheshvari Mosca, PhD, will review Patanjali’s eight limbs of Yoga and ten core yoga principles for well-being, plus key yoga sutras for living a life free of suffering.

Based upon her book, Cultivate Contentment, Johanna will teach the 4 D’s for Transforming Upsets (Distinguish, Detach, Dip and Design) and lead an in-depth clearing meditation. This meditation guides participants to let go of thoughts, emotions and body sensations, fill up with trust and gratitude, and focus on loving the present moment and setting intentions for lasting contentment.   The workshop will begin with a welcome centering, then a discussion of the eight limbs, ten yoga principles and various practical yoga sutras to enhance daily living. Midway, Johanna will work with participants’ examples of upsets to demonstrate how to clear them using her 4 D’s for transformation. The session will end with a deeply satisfying clearing meditation that participants can use to clear themselves any time..
