New Orleans native Jim McCormick has been writing songs most of his life. In the 1990's McCormick fronted the local group The Bingemen. After 8 years of writing, recording and touring with that group McCormick took a step back from the music business and taught at The University of New Orleans and wrote for a trade magazine.
Jim took a trip to Nashville to visit friends in the music industry. He discovered a community of songwriters that served as a catalyst to renew his interest in songwriting. For four years Jim would spend a few weeks in Nashville working with other songwriters, work odd jobs in New Orleans and return to Nashville to continue honing his craft. After four years of pursuing his passion Jim landed a publishing deal that translated into some of his songs being recorded by Ronnie Milsap and Randy Travis.
It wasn't easy but he continued to write and learn the ins and outs of writing country songs in Nashville. In 2012 McCormick co-wrote Brantley Gilbert’s “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do,” which hit #1 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart. The same year Craig Campbell’s charted with McCormick's hard times sing along “When I Get It,”.
