Jews and Baseball: In Their Own Words

Peter Ephross, editor of Jewish Major Leaguers in Their Own Words: Oral Histories of 23 Playerswill speak on Sunday, April 28, 2013 as part of the Jewish Historical Society of Fairfield County’s April Featured Program. The talk, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford, Connecticut 06902, starting at 10:00 AM with refreshments at 9:30 AM.

Ephross will share his fascinating, action packed book celebrating the accomplishments of Jewish baseball players, which, incidentally, far exceed their statistical numbers. His insights into the players’ careers and lives, told in their own colorful words, highlight three recurring themes surrounding Jews and baseball:  the “High Holidays,” racial awareness, and Jewish pride.  Two Mets tickets with parking will be offered as a raffle item or door prize.
