The Watchung Arts Center is proud to present vocalist Roseanna Vitro and her RNP band, last year’s Grammy nominees for the album “The Music of Randy Newman.” The group was recognized by the Academy for their artistic abilities in presenting Newman’s compositions through a confluent blending of jazz, blues, folk and country into unique and creative musical art forms. In addition to playing selections from the album, Ms. Vitro and the band will present previews from their upcoming CD, “Bill Evans to Clare Fischer.”
Although a resident of Warren, this will be Ms. Vitro’s first concert at the Art Center with her RNP band, except for spontaneous appearances with former Watchung resident and internationally recognized jazz pianist Kenny Werner. Their former album on Half Note Records marked a study in improvisational genius described by the company’s manager Jeff Levenson as being capable of “changing the planet one song at a time.”
In addition to her critically acclaimed twelve CDs, Ms. Vitro has held the Vocal Jazz Chair at New Jersey City University since 1998 and that of Vocal Jazz Teacher at NJPAC. She has appeared at famous jazz clubs including New York’s Blue Note and Lincoln Center as well as The Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Globally. she toured as a US Jazz Ambassador in 2004 and 2009.
This is a concert not to be missed.
