The Annual Father’s Day Big Band
Dance starring the incomparable former Count Basie Orchestra vocalist Dennis Rowland and Clark Krueger’s Extreme Decibel Big Band will
be held at The Scottsdale Plaza Resort on Sunday, June 19th from 3
to 7 p.m. The dance is a fundraiser to support the youth jazz education and
scholarship programs of Jazz in AZ and Young Sounds of Arizona.
Playing the opening dance set will be Young Sounds
of Arizona, a big band comprising the finest high school jazz musicians from
across the Valley.
Popular dance instructor and AZ Lindy Hop Society
founder Steve Conrad will offer a practical dance lesson during the transition
between bands at 3:50pm.
At 4:15pm, former Count Basie vocalist Dennis Rowland will
front Clark Kruger’s Extreme Decibel Big Band, performing classic dance repertoire
and familiar songs made popular by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joe Williams
and other icons.
Later in the
afternoon, Jazz in AZ will award scholarships to a number of talented
applicants who are pursuing further jazz studies at summer camps or college in the
FREE salsa & chips | cash bar | appetizing food menu available.

Net proceeds support Jazz in AZ and Young Sounds of Arizona.
