ZUMIX is pleased to present our 2014 Jazz at the Firehouse Concert Series, featuring four nights of incredible jazz music in ZUMIX’s beautifully renovated Firehouse, just a couple blocks from East Boston’s Maverick Square. All proceeds support ZUMIX’s award-winning work using music as a tool to empower youth and build community.

Each evening will begin at 5pm and open with emerging artists from ZUMIX youth programs.

Founded in 1991 in response to the worst year of violence in Boston’s history, ZUMIX offers award-winning programs in songwriting, performance, radio, audio technology, and theater for youth ages 7-18. With the changing needs of our community, we are now operating out of a 9,000 sq-foot renovated firehouse in East Boston. Each year we serve 500 youth in our after-school and summer programs, 550 youth through in-school partnerships, and reach more than 10,000 additional youth and adults through workshops, community events, and outdoor concerts. In 2011 our Executive Director and one of our teens traveled to the White House to accept the National Arts and Humanities Youth Programs Award from First Lady Michelle Obama.
